Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Cost Consultancy Team. We are looking for someone who is professional, client focused and passionate about a service that excels and will add to our wide breadth of experience and working knowledge across a range of mixed use, new build construction projects, refurbishment and conversion schemes, with projects up to £170m in value.

Our cost consultancy team operates within our multi-disciplinary practice, working for a range of clients, so a versatile and professional approach is key to the role.

Job Overview and Core Competencies

A suitable candidate will be responsible for the delivery of the following services:

  • Feasibility Cost Planning from stage 0 onwards
  • Detailed elemental cost planning / estimating
  • Cost verification of external cost plans
  • All aspects of cost management working closely with our Employer’s Agents / PM’s
  • Management of procurement stage including production of tender documentation
  • Review of post tender returns and production of Client Tender Reports
  • Generation of fee opportunities and production of fee proposals
  • Input into tendered opportunities as required
  • Advise colleagues and provide commercial support for project change / variations and claims
  • Manage project final accounts
  • Carry out life cycle costing
  • Manage and maintain cost data for benchmarking purposes

A suitable candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum 5 years’ PQE in the construction industry.
  • MRICS, FRICS or AssocRICS or willing and able to work towards achieving the same.
  • Strong knowledge of Contracts (in particular JCT & NEC suites)
  • Excellent communication and professional presentation skills.
  • Ability to self-manage as well as working as part of an integrated team.
  • Ability to take ownership of a range of projects
  • Ability to form professional relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Capable of assisting in the management of a small team and mentoring of junior colleagues.
  • Maintain the highest standards of technical performance
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Causeway (or similar) estimating software.
